LOL
I'm sure the Juicy Girls are still drinking up the night... I was there in '92-'93, so I'm at least hoping the ones that were there when I was have been replaced by newer models.
Thanks for the info, and I kinda figured that's how it was when dealing with the trainers.
Thanks

I'm due to attend Prime's Orientation on the 3rd of Nov. I'm a bit nervous about it. I'm excited to be going, but I currently have a job that actually grosses about 42k a year. I'll have to give them notice and leave, which doesn't bother me as much as when I get to Prime if they send me home. That actually is what scares me the most.
I think I can learn to drive and all the other aspects of the job, it's just if I don't make it thru orientation I"m jobless.
I've gotten my Permit already, had my BP checked and it was high so I'm on medication now for that. My eyes are good, and my BMI is good. I'm fairly fit, but we all could use more exercise. My last speeding ticket drops in Dec and I've never had DUI/DWI or any arrests of any type. My ex-wife did not pay our insurance when we first got married and we ended up getting an SR22 and then when I left her my license did get suspended due to not paying enough on a that speeding ticket (6$ short) and I didn't even know it was suspended, but all that was taken care of.
I just hear of 70 folks going starting a class and like 10 to 15 finishing and that worries me.
Maybe it's nothing... like cold feet before ya get married, who knows. I'm really looking forward to being out on the road, so I guess only time will tell.

Yeah it's a bit scary leaving a job after 14 yrs to begin a totally different lifestyle profession. Not really knowing what to expect either, other than what I've been reading for the past month or so.
I did happen to see a Prime truck at the truck stop yesterday so I pulled in and went over and talked to the driver. To my suprise he was a L/O and a trainer (only trains folks for their Permits) and he had a trainee with him. So I asked a bunch of questions and even ones that I had read in these forums and he helpful and even wearing a Prime t-shirt. LOL
They were gonna take showers to we even talked more while they waited. I was even asking the trainee questions and he talked about it wasn't bad that he had to leave Prime a while back for 3 month's to get his meds corrected but then came back and this was his 2nd week on the truck. The trainee talked about what he was having problems with and didn't seem to mind the training. The L/O said Prime's a good company for the most part and that "trucking is what you make of it". I think those few words struck very true. I watched as trucks fuel'd up and can only imagine that the "freedom" of trucking does have it's fair share of sacrifices.
But I was feeling pretty good about our talk and really it did help settle my nerves a bit. -
its deff what u make of it..and its not for everyone..im pretty sure its for me. been riding along with my uncles since i was 5.
anyways good luck. ill be posting when i have a go ahead to start
mybe u will be there road testing when i arrive -
Zany,
Look in the Yellow Pages, under elevator repair !!!!!
Cause Yours sure ain't working properly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Why?
Maybe he doesn't like what he is doing now. He said he was making 42K... so what. There are alot of jobs paying 42K or more that I wouldn't want to have... I wouldn't want to be stuck in an office at a desk all day... unless I was making a TON of money to put up with it.
Some folks love jobs that others would hate... and vice versa.
Good luck Zany. I'll be coming there a month or so after you get there... maybe I'll see you out on the road sometime. -
Good Luck to both of you. I just think it's foolish to take such a cut in pay !!!! Check with me in 1 year, if I'm wrong, I'll gladly apologize.........
cactusjack Thanks this. -
If it was me i would keep my job and forget trucking for right now..... Sit back and see where and when the economy is getting better and keep an eye on these posts and definately keep an eye on recruitment standards that will speak volumes....
Just some friendly advice. -
Thanks jtrnr.
As for myself... I won't be taking a cut in pay. I will be making alot more than I am making right now during training at Prime.
But... money isn't everything. Being unhappy with your job is much worse than taking a pay cut to do something you will probably be happy doing.
I see where you're coming from jtrnr, but I also see where Zane is coming from... that's all I'm saying.jtrnr1951 Thanks this.
