Took there lease to my attorney. When he got up off the floor from laughing he ask for the real lease doc's, He simply did not reccomend signing it as it did not have any protection for the lessor. Pretty much no matter what they do your stuck good or bad. SO if your there do not piss them off you have no recourse if they decide not to dispatch you for what ever reasons. Above all read every word make them explain anything you don't understand, and repeat it till you do understand.

A trucking company or broker who pays a percentage of the freight bill is required by federal law to disclose the original charges (contract) on any load you pull - although they may require you come to their "main" location to view it. If the pay you a cent-per-mile rate, there isn't any provision for that.

I'm sure recruiting is taking the holiday off. Try Monday, and be persistant.

If I am nothing else, I am persistent! But if I get the feeling that they are being non responsive, I will go with another company.
I have to deal with absolutes! It is too important for me to get started to put my hopes on someone who will not return a telephone call!

I will even contact whoever is in charge of recruiting if I have to!:biggrin_25523:

    Ok here is how it works using fictitious companies for example;
The Shipper is Acme Widgets in Sacramento California.
The broker is PTruck Logistics in Springfield MO.
The trucking company is New PTruck Trucking in Springfield MO.

The logistics company is really owned by the trucking company but on paper is a seperate company. So legally the trucking company is getting freight from the logistics company but in reality they are direct booking with the shipper.

So the shipper pays $2 a mile and the logistics company takes 16% and the trucking company takes their 28% and then the truck gets the leftover $1.04 a mile. Legally the trucking company IS paying correctly on the freight bill from the LOGISTICS broker but in reality they are controlling the rate they pay the truck through the sham broker company.
I am even guessing that the larger trucking companies will even have brokers on paper set up in different parts of the country to make it look more legit on paper.
(math may be off but you get the idea).

Legal and moral are two different things sometimes.

Always have been. Double brokering isn't illegal - nor is inflating the cost of crude on the spot market through speculation, however try to do something about either and the gods of capitalism declare the end of the world as we know it. Neither practice is good for the economy in general.

However you're assuming that New PTruck Trucking is out to assure that their independant contractors fail in high percentage of cases. That's not necessarily a safe assumption, nor does it make sense from a case that they might actually want their freight to reach it's destination.

I am looking to start a driving career and I have been told so much and I have heard so much. I am to the point of not knowing what to believe anymore. I am wanting a good company to start with and work for. These recruiters will say anything to get you into a school where you are in debt or stuck there to be screwed for a year. Is there any good with any trucking company?

Friend, there are good AND bad,in EVERY company.

You just need to research, research, research....and then research some MORE.
Only YOU can decide what you are willing to put up with, what you won't, and then base your decision upon that.

For what it's worth, Prime isn't the worst...my step-son went through Prime almost two years ago. It was GREAT for him the first year and a half...he's not so happy with them now, but they also know that he plans on going to another company in March.
He had paid back the cost of his schooling and training in the first year...he chose to stay with them for two years, to keep a good work record, so that a REALLY good company would hire him. In March, he will be getting hired on to Fed-Ex.....they told him they want to hire him BECAUSE he stuck it out with Prime.
    Food for thought there, huh?
