Many things factored into it...his personal life, but MOSTLY, he is getting really short miles.
They tell him it is because of freight being slow, paying less, etc.
But, freight and miles for him was fine, until he let them know he would be leaving in March.
Please, don't let this type of thing deter you from going to any company school, or quitting your current company.
This is typical, and if you leave/quit without notice, it screws your work history. At least they aren't screwing up his DAC, like some OTHER companies do.

I have found that it is never good to give more than a two week notice. They never look at it like you are being upfront with them. They always take it as you are a traitor and are leaving the company. Then the games begin.
I wish him the best. I still have a positive for Prime and plan on attending the second week in January. That is if I can get my recruiter to return my call. I will give her another call tomorrow after I come in from deer hunting.
Thanks for the info!
God Bless!

I've been with Prime well over two years now. Got my CDL through a third-party school, been driving on the company side since. I've had two good FMs, and have always been treated well. Freight has been available (mostly - considering the economy,) and I've been getting reasonable paychecks.
Prime training IMO is better than most places... you certainly spend longer with a trainer after getting your CDL, which isn't a bad thing in my book.
Equipment has always been well maintained, but there is a lot of responsibility for the driver to recognize when something is wrong and get it taken care of.
Look in the company DAC report folder for the Prime folder. There are a lot of threads in there. I think you can do a lot worse trying to find a place to start at, but the big thing is to find a company who will bring you on so you can get a few years experience driving under your belt.simplyred1962 and DirtySideDown Thank this. -
Hey Iron Pony,
Will they still take you from a third party school, or do they insist that you go through their training?
Thanks!

Why would he give more than two weeks notice? Not a good idea. -
I think Red was saying that the obligation was met after 1 year. You are right about the two weeks though, I gave a large non trucking company 2 months notice and all of a sudden I was person non grata around there. I had been with them 13 years.
