Hey Jim.
Have you tried calling the general recruiting number and trying to get a person... any person... and telling them that you need to get ahold of your recruiter asap?... and you don't want her voice mail!! Can you ask for a supervisor?
Just suggestions... I don't know how they operate. I have talked to my recruiter only 3 times, but I didn't have any trouble getting ahold of her... this was before Thanksgiving though. Maybe your recruiter is on vacation?
Good luck and keep trying.

Her name is Stephanie. Today the main number was busy a couple of times and then when I went to her voicemail, it could not take any messages because it was full.
I will try that tomorrow. I need to get wrapped up what I am going to do. I found out about a new program for ohio. It is called project hire. If a company writes me a letter and says that they will hire me if I have a specific training, the state will pay up to 6K and then the company gets the tax credit.
I am trying to find out if Prime will still hire me if I go to a local school. That way I can get my cdl out of the way starting next week and then come down.
I do have a pre hire already from another company which I would prefer not to go to.
But this is way to serious to be farting around for someone not to call you back.
It may not be important to them, but this is my life and career that I am talking about.
I have not given up yet, but if I have not spoken to them by thursday, then I may not be going to prime.
I will keep you updated!
Thanks!DirtySideDown Thanks this. -
Jim,
I passed my CDL test Nov 19 in Columbus after attending Roadmaster. I will attend orientation in Pittston, PA Dec 7.
Keep calling and good luck. -
Are you going with Prime? What did you think about the training at Roadmaster?
So how do they work it if you already have your CDL? Do you just go to orientation, and then out with the trainer for 4 months?
Was there any push back from them with you going to another school?
Just curious, because ohio has a new program that will pay for my cdl training. I could start the school as soon as next week and then go to Prime....if they would ever answer the phone...lolLast edited: Dec 1, 2009

Well I called again right at 8 central time and got the voice mail again. I called back and the call could not go through. So I called again and spoke with a gentleman, as I was explaining that I could not get in touch with my recruiter, he says I will transfer you. I tried to say noooooooooo, but it was to late. So I called back again and the call would not go through. So I called back again and got another very nice lady. I said PLEASE DO NOT TRANSFERE ME!.
I then calmly explained what I needed to know. You can attend a cdl class and they will take you as long as you come within 45 days.
I now have in my possession a pre approval letter for schooling after I finish my cdl training.
Now, I meet with The State of Ohio on Thursday to get approved for their "Project Hire"
So it pays to be persistant!DirtySideDown Thanks this. -
If it were me, I would make sure that I have a couple of "plan B's" available. I know it sounds weird, but in a month that may have changed - I've seen it happen. Get some prehire letters from other carriers just in case.

Keep us updated on your progress with the schooling and good luck.JimTheHut Thanks this. -
Ask one of these guys how long they have been on hold or switched around trying to get repairs on the road as well......
You might get an diffrent idea of the company if this recruiter has not said enough by not taking your calls or even getting through to the call center.....
Not bashing just stating the obvious........ -
To have an contingency plan is crucial in the trucking industry.....
THANK YOU IP ! -
I have a plan, B and C already in the works. I know how things can change at places, so I am not taking any chances. But thanks for the advice! I appreciate it!
