Yeah, I learned it's less a pain to head to Wally World or a grocery store. A majority of the time it's 10 or so minutes and you're good to go, be it sending or receiving moneys. :D I don't know why they make it a pain at truck stops. Probably don't deal with it as often.

I'm noticing our blips on Google Latitude drifting apart!

Anyone else on this thread on Latitude?

So, what's been going on these past few days? Picked up a load in Springfield, Missouri, frozen produce, and took it to a Walmart Distribution Center in Harrisonville. I drove about 2 1/2 hours from Prime out here, and managed to get us there an hour and a half early! :D From there, we nabbed the empty trailer after it was unloaded and went westwards towards Kansas City to pick up a load of swingsets for another Wally World.

Here, my trainer told me, is where most kids give up on the trucking bit. We were overweight four times in a row on our rear axles before they finally got Wal*Mart involved to drop the load by (what the main boss at the pickup site wanted) 1500lbs. They wound up taking off 3000. 6 hours of our day was spent trying to get this fixed and we wound up leaving very late that day. This back and forth stuff supposedly discourages some potential drivers.

With that sorted out, we headed to Denver, CO, to drop it off at a drop point for later delivery to California. I drove a majority of the way, and let me tell you.. dropping a newbie into thick unexpected traffic in Denver? Good lord! Talk about training, but I managed to handle it just fine. :D We delivered on time in the end.

Picking up another empty trailer, we headed back east to none other than Dodge City! Awesomeness. Finally learned, through my wife's teasing, this is where they got 'Let's get the hell out of dodge' from. Dropped off the empty trailer to get it loaded with fresh cuts of meat to drop off into North Carolina.

Here's, according to my trainer, where some other potential drivers abandon ship. Waiting. We arrived here early with our trailer, but were told it won't be ready to leave until 2AM in the morning tomorrow. We got here around 2 in the afternoon today. D'oh!

So am I liking this? So far, yeah! Lots of wording to memorize when it comes to the PTI, but my trainer's happy enough that I can visually point out everything they expect you to know about on that inspection. It's just remembering what exactly to look for that's got me scrambling. The bunk isn't as bad as I originally thought it was going to be, and once you find a niche it's pretty comfortable to sleep on. Also, the little windows help a bit, give you something to look at outside other than just walls. :)

Plenty of interesting people to see, and it's amazing how fast the time flies when you're behind the wheel. I pay attention to the road, but the scenery is nice at least. I'm told it'll get old after repetition kicks in, but I'm hopeful it won't. Also, I never seen so many women who like going around with nothing on under their shirts :p Props.

I just drove through Denver also... Drove through traffic that spent most of the time sitting. (Still no idea why traffic was stopped) Also drove through some in Oklahoma on I30. There was a bad accident involving a semi :( He hit so hard the axles were no longer part of the truck. I saw a truck on a flat bed tow truck later that day, if it was the same one... I doubt he survived, the entire drivers side was crushed in. Wow there is nothing up here in Colorado... Did see a couple trees though... lol

On the special forces side there is no waiting anywhere. Usually the trailers are loaded and ready to go. Just gotta bust ### securing them B-)

####.... I've not experienced this yet!
