I re-read this and need to clarify. Prime still runs its CDL School and hires newbs with no experiance and no CDL.
For a while there we were not hiring from CDL Schools. We are now, but are only taking recent grads (hired within 6 weeks) with no experiance.

While it is highly disappointing that I do not know anybody at Prime looking to take on a female trainee, I refuse to give up on the hope that it will happen and I will get the BEST and most thorough training in the industry.
I completely understand the reasoning behind not just throwing a male & female together. Some, I am sure, would label it discrimination, but this job is a little different from your typical 9-5. In an office or factory, you can have a male train a female & vice versa; you are in an open environment with others around you. Even there, you have the discrimination and sexual harrassment issues, but in this job you are in a very confined space with only the 2 of you. The facts are sad but true, and it only takes one accusation to ruin a persons career.
These policies would not be in place unless there had been issues of this nature arise. It is a safety policy not only for the trainer but also the trainee and I can not hold that against Prime or any of its trainers. I know there are some companies that will put you in with whomever is available to train. I hold Prime in high regard that they do take these issues seriously and are doing their best to protect everybody.
The weekend is coming up, and I will be gone for a couple or 3 weeks, on the road with a friend who is going to do his absolute best to train me in a short time, at least enough for me to come back and get my CDL. Since I made the mistake of trusting the advertising of Roadmaster and their mill style training, I am now in a position of either finding outside help for training, or go back to hopefully finding another office job. For me, the office job is not what I want, but I will do what I have to while still pursuing my CDL. One way or another, I will be on the road.
Please take care on the highways this weekend, and remember, somebody out here cares about you all. ~Hugs~ -
It does take time to get through to the recruiters, but I have a strong willpower, strength and determination to fight for what I want, so I stay on the line until I get someone. I'll keep trying in hopes that one day they say the policy has changed and they are taking women without a trainer in place.

Thanks for the clarification U2 =) I'm now trying to decide whether or not I am in the position to apply, if I do, I will apply to Prime and Central. I'm still working but I'm in a very badly hit industry (the Boating industry) and even in the summer it's been difficult. I've always wanted to drive trucks, the next few months may present opportunities to follow that dream. I think most people that make trucking a career are those that had a career, lost it either by choice or by force, and decided to follow their dream of the open road. I know it's hard work and sacrifice, working long days and away from home for weeks at a time, that's not a problem for me, I've done it a lot in the past. What is the hardest thing for me is actually taking a step in the direction of trucking, maybe I feel that there is still a place for me at my current job and I don't want to screw that up or maybe it's a misunderstanding and confusion about the process of getting into trucking. I'm not sure...I'm just trying to get as much info as I can before I make any decisions on my future.

JW sometimes you just have to take the plunge! That's what I did seven years ago. Left a good (but low paying) job, not knowing if I would make it through training. I knew I wouldn't be able to get my old job back if I didn't make it. Just had to hold my nose and jump in! I am glad I did! It has been a real adjustment for all of us, but we have things now we would not have had if I had stayed in the cubicle world. Three times I have tried to go back to that and off the road, and now I am getting ready to go back on the road again. It gets in your blood!

Well, I might as well ask what to expect from Prime? I don't trust recruiters as far as I can throw em. If I do go through their training program, are they honest when they say if you for them over such a period of time they will pay for your training? Are they going to be looking for every opportunity to get rid of me or make my life hell so they don't have to pay up on that? Basically what I'm asking is if hard work and safe driving will keep me with the company, or are they more concerned about making a dime off my training?

Same here. I left a cubicle job that paid the bills, and not much more. I took the plunge; I decided if I didn't jump in with both feet, I'd never do it. I don't regret for one minute having walked out the door. I regret that I didn't have more information regarding the school I chose. I wish I had held out until something came open here, but honestly, I haven't looked back once after walking out that door and leaving my cubicle empty. And hope is one thing I have plenty of; I know at some point in time, things are going to turn around and a trainer will come about who is willing to take a chance on me. As long as I keep the positive thoughts going, good things are bound to appear.

The one other thing that scares me is I bought a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado new 2 years ago that I'm still paying on, I can't afford more than about 2 months without a solid paycheck. I don't want to give up my pickup, but I think I might have to if I want to drive trucks...plus I don't know when I'd use it. There are a lot of things to consider before I just jump in the pool...as badly as I want to. =(
