Don't be late to anything. They don't tollerate it! Ever! Especially at a "90!"
-
Thanks IP, wasn't late this morning and everyone here was very nice and have treated me well here. I already have my permit so tomorrow it's learning the Smith system, about 2/3 of my class are studying to take their written test tomorrow for their permits. The millennium bldg is real nice, and saw their trucks in the lot, they all look clean. Thanks to you and U2 for the info on here about Prime, it very helpful.

Best wishes and good luck

iron pony - or u2 i been reading the threads on here for a little while is there some people on here that really get under your skin or do you all try to get along . you guys threads i really like on here there interesting you guys tell almost everybody needs to know about prime . is you guys see a slow down still or is it still the same from the start of the year .because i will see two o r three prime trucks a week or a day lately down to one week i didnt know if it was slow all over or what
-
It has slowed down. I cant remember the last time I was in danger of running out my 70 clock for the week.
This past week was 4th best week I have had for 2009. Way better than my average for the last 4 weeks. This week remains to be seen.
I just delivered into a typically slow freight state (Michigan) I got a pickup appointment set for almost 24hrs after that delivery going to another slow state (Ohio)... So we'll see how this pans out.
Fortunatly I am delivering early on Friday and maybe that will set me up for a load with some miles for the weekend. -
I forgot to answer the first part of your question.
What gets under my skin is people who pass off second hand knowledge as fact. I could go off all day about what I heard that goes on at Swift or England etc... But Ive never worked for them, and I dont pretend that I know whats going on there.
If someone has a beef with Prime, and they have recently worked for Prime, I am more than happy to hear their complaints and concerns.... but dont begrudge me because I ask questions... I work at Prime too, I know how alot of things work at Prime and usually the "holes" in these stories present themselves fairly quickly.
I have simple goals. To stand out with on time performance. Get good fuel milage (and it pays extra to do so), minimize mistakes, maximize my availability to pull freight by efficiently managing my time, and communicate any potential problems as soon as they present themselves.
Maybe this is why I have never had problems with Prime and they havent had a problem with me. Would I like more miles, yes! But I have faith in my dispatcher that he is doing everything he can with sales to get me those miles... The more miles I run, the more I make, the more he makes.... so he has an intrest in keeping me running.
I get home when I ask, and no one has ever said no, and the worst thing that had ever been said about me taking hometime is, "Im going to try and get you there on time but it may be a few days early or a few days late... is this going to be a problem?"
I have only had one pay discrepency not my fault, and the problem was added to my very next check. Discrepencies that are my fault, usually involve me forgetting to scan in a reciept for re-imbursement, those are taken care of quickly too.
Do I like the fact that I am one of nine trucks running electronic logging (paperless) in the fleet? not really, but its coming and Im getting ahead of the curve, and it hasnt slowed me down. It has been nerve racking twice, and the potential problems worked themselves out. But Im only 2 weeks in on it and Im holding final judgement for a couple more.
Last thing, speaking for myself, I am not here to recruit anyone. Ive documented my training experiance and my first couple months on other threads just the same way as others have here. Their stories helped me make my decision on where to go and who to avoid... Prime was the best fit for my training needs...
I drop in to answer questions as best I can. Its impossible to find a person I have recruited for a bonus, its never happened and Ive got the paystubs to prove it. -
Thanks IP, say I have a question for you and hope you can answer this for me. I was up in Fargo, North Dakota. I was wondering do we have freight that goes up there? I was driving down from Fargo a couple of weeks ago visiting my boys that are up there in college and I did see a couple of Prime trucks heading up that way. I'll be driving refers and was just wondering if you may know?
Thanks for any feedback on this -
Thanks ....
