I've been out on PSD for a week and a half, doing a reset out in Medford, OR and then heading down to San Diego. We should be back at the SLC terminal Wednesday and I'll be testing out probably Friday or Saturday. My PSD instructor is a flatbedder so I'm getting some good experience on that side as well. However, things at home are changing and I may be moving my address to GA soon - which opens up the possibility of tanker for me.
Right now I'm trying to decide if I should do flatbed for the first year and then swap to tanker, or see if I can shuffle my license over to GA and do TNT in Tanker.
I don't hate flatbed and still think getting experience doing it would be good to have in my skillset, but tanker was my first choice when I first started researching companies.
@icecold24k I may PM you here in a bit to get your opinion since you basically did the same thing (flatbed for a year, then tanker).Veryblessed Thanks this. -

It's been a hot minute - I guess I should update the thread here... Tested out and passed the CDL driving exam first time go last week - and have been out on TNT for about 8 days.
During the PSD phase there were some changes at my home residence out in WA state and I decided to 'move' back to Atlanta - which opens up the opportunity for Tanker. I like flatbed, but was more interested in tanker when I first started researching, and now that it was an option again started considering a switch before TNT started up.
After discussing it with my PSD instructor (flatbed) he mentioned it would probably be best to just swap over to tanker now instead of a year later, as I'd have money invested in securement that I'd lose out on once I swapped later. He also offerred to run the first few weeks of my TNT and will be bringing me out to Springfield at the end of May when he shows up for the backing competition.
I don't yet have a tanker TNT trainer lined up officially to finish things up at that point, but I've been discussing it with @icecold24k and if our schedules line up he may be able to help me out on that one
My trainer currently is western regional, but hopefully after his hometime for mother's day, they'll break us out of the regional runs so I can drive something other than I-5 and I-15. Getting lots of good experience in mountains both on and off the interstate, as well as rush hour fun time in LA, San Diego, San Fran, Sac, SLC, Vegas (woot construction is fun too!), etc... but really looking forward to something a little different after that time off.Veryblessed and FullMetalJacket Thank this. -
Hows the transition going or are you still on the flatbed side?
narcolepticltd Thanks this.
