I am training at prime inc. I am doing the 30k miles with the trainer. The trainer keeps on bringing up for me too lease a truck after training. He is a lease operator. Does he get some kind of money if I end up leasing a truck. I feel like leasing a truck is a lot of money and I'll be able to make a little less with out the headache if I go company driver, and I would rather buy a kW if I wanted a truck.

As I'm sure most anyone on this forum will tell you, the last thing a new student driver needs to worry about is leasing a truck. There is so much more that goes into leasing a truck that someone just coming into the industry really has no business attempting. Stick with company for a couple of years, and if you feel you'd like to try out the lease, then go for it. But you honestly could probably make more staying as a company driver.

Not saying it isn't possible for new drivers to succeed in a lease, but the failure rate is so high for a reason...

To answer your question no he doesn't get anything extra if you go lease... he may just think you have what it takes to make it . Or maybe he is so happy he is making it he wants others to know about it. What ever the reason don't let him pressure you into it . If it's not what you want yet don't do it till your ready to

He (the trainer) is a paid recruiter. He will get some sort of finder's fee if you sign on just as someone gets a hiring bonus if they recommend another driver. Don't let anyone kid you, he get's some money. stay away from lease deals. They will not fire you if you refuse.
