Thank you tanker drivers for all the useful info for a wannabe like me. I put in my application to Prime last night. Couple questions if you don't mind:
1) How long should I wait to hear back before I start pestering the recruiter?
2) I'm in KY ...about 25 miles from Lexington where I-64 and I-75 cross. Is this a good freight lane?...a good hiring area?
3) Would I be required to take the tractor home when I'm not working? I live in town and I might be able to park at my house but my driveway is kinda narrow and not much clearance between me and my neighbor. I wouldn't want to leave it on the street.
4) Are most of the tanker drivers at Prime L/O or O/O? Would love to hear from any company drivers that pull tanks for Prime, as this is what I would be shooting for, at least at the outset.
I do realize there's almost no chance I'll get tanker division right out of the chute if I get hired on at Prime. I'm okay with paying dues and all that. Dry van or reefer (would prefer dry van) - where do most new hires start out at?... don't think me and flatbedding would be a good fit. And what are my chances of switching over to tanks after pulling boxes for a year or so?
Okay...that's more than a couple of questions. I'll work on my math skills. Thanks in advance, Prime guys and gals.

If you got you're pride hurt leasing please post on your own thread. This thread is about tanking and business success.Thank you.
-
Then there should be no mention of L/O's at all.
-
You are in my thread and I will mention what I please. Be a mature adult and if you were wronged by a lease persue legal action. If you were just a ignorant businessman, learn a lesson like the real business guys do. If you just want to vent talk to your friends and family that care what you think.
This thread is for mature and responsible adults who know that all of the actions they take have consequences. This is not a thread for the silly or ignorant or those who feel the world should take care of them.
Make your own thread. This one is mine. We talk about tanker driving and truck leasing here. We don't complain about our choices here. We learn from them. I suggest you try and do the same. -
my thread ?????
used to be an open forum here.RickG Thanks this. -
Thank you for coming to troll. I appreciate you helping to drag the thread I created off topic. If you didn't notice these threads have titles for reason. I'm trying to share information about a certain topic. There are other threads to complain and be emotional in. I want people to go there and do that.

I've followed this thread since it was started.
No thanks,
you can have it back........HomeTownHauler and RickG Thank this. -
1) About 2 days
2) No really but you are reachable
3) No, they want you to leave the tank at yard or wash unless you say you will take it.
4) The majority are lease. There are about 6 lease trucks for every company truck in Tanker Division.
Yes you can get hired in to tanker. Tell Prime that's what you want and that's where they put you. There are people getting there CDL, training in refer then finishing up the TnT in tanker.
GunMetal out!quetzalcoatl and briarhopper Thank this. -
Thank you for stopping by. It's almost over because my training is almost over.
This is a thread about my training experience. Someone else's would probably be different. I hope better because I'm trying to get some structure to the training at Prime.
The next thread will be about MY tanker lease experience. I'll be telling you all about it. If I get screwed you'll know. The scary part for the haters out there is when I'm successful you'll know. Laters.
