How long do you have to stay out on the tanker side and how is the pay?

All I have met are lease ops and they go home when they want to. $1100 is a low average. Lowest check my trainer earned was $800. He's said he's earned some $2000 solo checks.

Thank you for the reply GM. I have not done a tanker in 10 years or so and it was local what would the process be for me?

If you still have your CDL you'll have a 3 day orientation, 3-5 days at the tanker boot camp (paid), and 30k miles of TnT. I'm 2 weeks into my TnT now.

I can honestly say I've never seen a prime tanker in southern WI. Do you guys get up here much or is Chicago as far north as you usually go? I'm guessing they don't tansport much milk just juices and syrup?

No milk. Mainly food grade oil and some chocolate, juice, soy sauce and wine.

I have a friend who would beg me to park a tanker of wine in front of her house for just one night...

    Hi,

This has been another nice and relaxed week in tanker division.

This week my trainer and I talked about how to figure out the base fuel price (thanks IP), how idleling the truck is a total waste because you get 0 mpg, and that it's a good idea to get the tank washed out as soon as you're empty.

We also talked about safe driving and I explained that I drive the way I do because that's what I learned in the Smith System course. I told him I drive safe and follow the rules because I only have one CDL. If I lose it I'm done so I don't roll the dice with my career. If I do things the right way in the first place it keeps my chances of running into trouble low.

He may not agree with the way I do things but he respects it. That's a good thing too because that is how I'm going to keep on doing things.

    Stay safe out there.
