Well... didja notice the football field of room ol' Safety Ken had to do this little manuever in? I haven't seen a parking lot like that since this thread was started. Most of them this week have been about as small as they come.

I agree with epton. When you have to do it alone every day it comes pretty quick. What I want to know is why when there is little room it slips right in but when I have tons of room I miss. Thats the frustrating thing.

Id like to see him make it into the spot I got into blindside at the T/A outside Columbus... Several times Ive had to be inches away from another truck to get mine into a spot. At a receiver I had to fold my mirror in so the truck would physically fit through the door...

As an instructor I would not recommend backing up with the tractor at that extreme angle. You will eat up those tandem tires, not much different than dragging your tandems across the pavement with the brakes on..... Why would you treat your equipment like this when you rely on it to make a living.... Always try to keep those tandem tires moving while backing, do not pivot those the tandems...

Yep, very hard on tires! It's also hard on other steering and suspension components too. Its all that weight of a loaded trailer and binding everything up.

Well, good luck getting into these little loading docks set up for cab-over's and 48' trailers.

It's easier on the equipment to keep the angles as shallow as possible going forward or backward, but sometimes you end up having to jackknife and pivot to back in, or turn tight to get turned around.
