Prime Trainers

No, not really, sorry.

There are quite a few trainers but the problem is coordinating them to be at the terminal when there is a student ready. Trainers are in the potion to choose the student.

 

It would be the same with most companies its who ever gets into the yard/ depot first draws the short straw so to speak and your stuck with them or there stuck with you depending on personal opinion just hope you score a decent trainer.

 

Prime actually has a match system for trainers and students. You will complete a survey in orientation and based on your answers, you will be paired with a trainer.

 

Heard about them starting that.

How's that working out, anyways?

I'm not instructing or training anymore, but curious as to what you may have seen/heard from your compadres from orientation.

 

I haven’t really heard a whole lot about it besides what my PSD trainer told me. It worked out good for me. Both trainers were/are great. Maybe I just got lucky.

 

Ask for experienced trainer and truck driver, i would say the one that had minimum 10 students and no less than 5 years of truck driving experience.Dont jump into any truck, go inspect the truck for any smell, cleanliness etc before you bring your bags in it.Thus you will weed out all dummy trainers that will use you as steering monkey to make money.Prime always on drivers side, you will not prove much. Dont let Prime owe you, you will pay money for this training school if you quit after training is done, it is not free at all, so demand quality.

 

I am a TNT trainer at Prime in the tanker division and I don't have much of a choice as a company driver. I am just told we are sending you here to pick up this student. Here is their name and number. I go they get on my truck and we leave. Honestly I kind of wish I could screen them beforehand but I guess it is what it is.

 

Probably has more to do with you being a tanker driver than company. There's so many more of us in the reefer world.
