Many felons start over somewhere around trucking. Some by lumping trailers for cash money daily. Unsure if they have enough for the rent at the end of month or to eat at the end of day.

Your crime is minor. Companies hold the keys to your future. If you have a bird in hand stay there.

Maybe build up 3 weeks time off and then choose one orientation to go to per year. That way you can spend a week there and get hired and turn in two weeks notice or be sent home and rest up on your time off.

The crimes that really totally go against people are those where you use a Commerical vehicle in commission of a felony, cargo theft hot drug test or DUI within a period of time more recent than your 7 years. Etc. There was a time that certain things cause to make DAC give a life ban. It's been watered down to 5 years or more.

But here is the thing. You already been convicted one time. (Without a CDL probably...) but if you get it a second time ever that's it. This industry has no tolerance. Im glad you stayed clean for 7 years, keep it up. You can pretty much pass anything they throw at you provided you were not prescribed pain medicine legit by a doctor this year after Jan1 if you were hurt and ER gave you pills in 2018 for a few days, bring documentation in case it comes up from the original facility and doctor that treated you for broken bone or whatever.

You do have to dispose of alcohol containing products. Mouthwash for instance. And also Tynenol PM. It has a active drug in it that is capable of failing (And has convicted people 19 hours after last night's bed time when they failed the road side horizontal eye test when otherwise sober)

You will need to go over everything you need to use in your daily life and remove anything that can cause a problem with your urine, hair (Going back a year) or blood tests at any time in this industry)

Hazmat involves TSA and Homeland security in person interviews if you got past that you will get the endorsement.

Canada will potentially be a problem. THEY WILL MAYBE deny you entry if your conviction is a felony. Ever. Being turned around at the peace bridge customs booth is not a fun experience for anyone denied entry there.

It goes on and on and on. Things have changed greatly in my life time. I'll die a trucker. But there are certain changes I would not put up with.

If you like your Union Work, stay there. There is a oppertunity that when you do retire you will get a nice pension to supplement your social security, if we still have one that much in the future.

    Linte_Loco Thanks this.
