From reading the forum it looks like carriers are required to get a minimum number of years of work history. Of course they can always ask for more. It looks like most ask for the last 10 years.

What happens if you don't have a work history? i.e.. I have been staying home full time (watching kids etc) for the last 15 years. Also, I am a guy. I put that out there because even though it shouldn't matter, in peoples minds it does. Will the carriers still hire me?

No arrest record, clean driving record, will pass any drug screen.

I would hate to spend the money on getting a CDL and then find out since I haven't worked in the last 10 years they won't hire me.

I am not sure how the industry works, any help/clarification for my situation would be much appreciated.

Also, trucking companies look for new hires that do not have a criminal background, or traffic violations, or drug abuse. Your application will go to towards the top of the pile if you have a clean background.

A good number of companies would hire you when you walk in the their door, with a clean background.
