Usually when you have irregular wear in the center like that the tire is over inflated.
-
Looks like im going to have it done wednesday its $250 for all 3 axles and takes half a day so will find out
-
YEA...mine took several hrs. They told me 3hrs for the alignment but with the rest of it, it was closer to 6.
I still have a vibration issue (even with centramatic balancers) but I believe a belt shifted in one or both tires. They are wearing fine and don't appear cupped but the vibration (although it doesnt shake the wheel) is annoying. I am going to look at a new set of steers next month. -
I would agree that type of wear pattern would indicate inflation problems--especially considering you recently replaced kingpins. But--since you recently replaced tires(and of course I am ASSUMING here) the tires were properly inflated at installation and you have been checking them regularly. there could well be another deeper problem--but since your are planning to have a proper 3axle alignment done(which I do highly recommend) I think we just have to wait and see--I know steer tires can/will wear very poorly if there is any type of alignment problem--and the rears(either or both)don't have to be out much.
Good luck and let us know--Thanx -
I have never seen or herd of Pro-Trac???
Who uses this Equipment? -
The 3 axle alignment wont fix your problem, From what i seen chopy wear on a center rib of a tire is from either loose front end or crappy shocks.
What the 3 axle alignment will fix is a pull and feathered wear.Displaced Yooper Thanks this. -
Man my rig pulled so bad once upon a time you let go of the wheel and ended up in the ditch...Thats all fixed and gone finally....Still have a weird vibration at 62 even with brand new steers (they balanced at zero w/o any weights!!) and centramatics on the front end. At this point, I think the road is where I am getting the hippy hoppy feeling...
