During training, I used full 3rd stage engine braking in the rain on a turn in a 2017 Freightliner with a 12 speed DD auto tranny. The tires started to lock up, I screamed, the trainer screamed and I about crapped my pants. No more engine braking in the rain.
That was the most reaction I got out of him the entire time we spent together. I took a turn too sharp and hit a curb with the trailer. I said oops I hit the curb. He kept his hands folded on his belly and said "yep, try not to do that again."
That was it. I thought he would fuss and yell but nope. But when the truck started sliding in the rain now THAT got a reaction out of him.
I'm also a pilot and licensed airplane mechanic.
Probably a stupid rookie question.
