Some trucks have a computer setting that limits idle time before it does an auto shutoff. Some have a way to bypass these settings.

That's just plain stupid. I could see if apu was involved but no apu and I can't keep my arse warm or cold in the summer. How am I suppose to be well rested and ready to go when I have icecals hanging off my balls or drenched in sweat in summer. Just shows how much respect they have for us. The track suit and flip flops crowd ain't helping the image really

Personally I think buying tractors without built in APUs and inverters for driver comfort is one of the most silly and just down right mean things a carrier can do. My last few years driving I refused to drive a tractor without an APU. There comes a time when we as drivers must develop GONADS and stand up to this stupidly.

Side question. Not even with wheel chocks and both brakes released it will still shut down?

We had a guy talking all night trying to bypass it in 20° weather and nothing worked.

That I have done on a truck that happened to arrive with a 5 minute idle. It was "fixed" next trip out, not Kosher at all in Canada. Blocked wheels, brakes released and weight on throttle
