Took the truck in to Freightliner this morning. I have no oil or water gauge, no rpm or speedometer. My e-logs couldn't record the miles I drove to get over there, even. It was only about 10 miles, tho. They can't even look at it until tomorrow night so I guess I'll just enjoy my extended home time...LOL

Had an '04 Century. The dash in those has a tiny wire running from behind the tach. The wire on mine broke and it shut the entire dash down. It wouldn't "talk" to the ECM...just nothing. It was in a truck that did not have Qualcomm. When the tach was replaced, the dash unit reset itself to zero. Unfortunately, that did not reset the warranty too. Would have been nice.

You probably have an oil pressure sensor going out or from the sound of it gone out.
The reason that you have no throttle response when that happens is that the truck will go into emergency shut down mode and the throttle won't work among other things.

They're gonna have to plug the truck into a laptop and read the diagnostics so they can track it down.

Like I said, It'll probably turn out to be a sensor.

I believe she meant that when she stepped on the accelerator, the Tach did not move (she said "nothing happened" but she was talking about the tachometer). I think the truck is running ok, just all of the gauges are dead. Obviously the truck is running since she drove it to Freightliner to get it fixed.

I noticed when I drove it over there that my e-logs did not record the milage, so I don't know what's up there.

My truck went in the shop Wednesday morning and acted up 1 time. Then it behaved itself the rest of the day so they couldn't find the problem to fix it.

Picked the truck up Thursday morning, made an 85 mile run to get an empty. Gauges acted up a little and then settled down. Came home and then went out later to get my load 20 miles away. Everything was working fine. Spent the night at the shipper since there is never any room at the truckstops after 10pm and my 14hrs was almost up.

Left the shipper, went to scale 10 miles away, everything was fine. Started down the road and no gauges again. Stopped and called breakdown. "No Data Entry = no speedometer, no odometer, no miles being recorded." They told me to get to the terminal in Irving, TX ASAP. Started out again, everything worked for about 10 minutes. When I stopped 4 hours later I discovered that somehow the computer had kicked me to "On Duty" while driving. After my break the odometer started working, but the tach and speedo were bouncing up and down.

So here I am, at the terminal, waiting until tomorrow to see what is going to be done.

With the e-log - do people still do the paper logs as back up?? So that if this happens you can still keep track of HOS and stuff?

I have to run the paper logs along with the e-logs because US Xpress is not certified to just run with the e-logs yet. I'm also able to manipulate the e-logs to an extent, so I just changed the "On Duty" to "Driving", but I need to get ahold of the e-log people to explain the 3 entries of "Driving/Driving Detected" and how it was that I drove 6 hrs and only went about 150 miles..LOL

    Lady K Thanks this.
