We do pretty much PFJ only, but most of them seem to work OK.
When I have one that gives me problems if I pull the Nozzle out a little it will work, pain in the... Since I have to hold it out.
Problems filling DEF tank at pump.

Is Def here to stay? Some Rumors out there that new Trucks in the Future will not require it. Ie Cummins.
We have 2013 Cummins Isx 550's, run great and no issues so far other than an inconvienence of filling extra def Tank. Just wondering. Thanks -
Shouldn't listen to rumors.
International tried to get away from DEF on the Maxxforce, and that nearly took the company under. The new ones have DEF designed by Cummins. John Deere tried the EGR only method and their competitors with red paint cleaned up on that, very measurable difference in fuel consumption and not in favor of Deere, so now they have added DEF to their engines.
Diesel pickups and cars with the new emissions are using DEF, as well.
The Selective Catalytic Reaction adds some ammonia to the exhaust stream to react with nitrogen oxides, which are formed by combustion with excess oxygen present. Cummins actually has a non EGR engine in Australia, but it does use DEF in larger quantities from what I read.
The urea water mix has been the most used source of the ammonia needed for the reaction.
2013 FL with DD15 and we usually get filled by the shop guys, but not had any trouble doing it at the pump when needed. Never used a jug of DEF yet.Last edited: Dec 3, 2014
Koolk Thanks this. -
I have a 2014 Volvo and have the same problem. I fuel at the same stop and I've found that putting it on the slowest setting works. I guess wash your windows or sweep the floor to kill time.

*What you need to do* I had the same problem as you. Put the nozzle in, it clicks off within a second. Lift up it up a little(an inch or 2) and make push it in snug. Try again. If it clicks off again, pull down on the nozzle. Meaning, with the nozzle all the way in, pull up or push it down snug, as if you were trying to bend the nozzle. You wont bend the nozzle, but when you push up or down, this ALWAYS did the trick. It seems that some DEF nozzles have more problems then others as well.

Hi. We manufacture and sell a user friendly magnet device for activating the magnetic interlock nozzles. Also certified ISO compliant reusable DEFJUGs for filling at the pump. We've been in the DEF accessory business for almost 2 years and have sold hundreds of our magnet devices, DEFJUGs, and DEFSPOUTS. Check them out at www.fivestardef.com.
