OK, I just heard the craziest idea here. They said, could it be a very good "fake" made in china. Looks real, feels real but the proof is in the pudding. Never heard of this before. Wow. Guys here at our yard are coming with some crazy ideas.

I think you could have just hit the nail on the head. I would call Good Year and give them the serial number of the tire, they can tell you if its real. I'm sure they would also want to take a look at the tire, I would highly suggest you call Good Year. Something is amiss. A tire that's 2 year old does not do that. Tires that are 5 years old and have been recapped 2-3 times, I see it. I just had a tire that was OVER 10 years old split on the side while parked in my back yard, there is a small air leak too where the split is. For our curiosity, call Good Year and tell them what happened.

The O/O took the tires back with him to his yard and will take to his Goodyear rep. Everything you said above is true. Been around the block and then some in regards to maintanace and I've never seen a 2 yr old tire do this. I will post with whatever they tell him. We usually kick back at our yard back in the back and relax after work with a few beverages and thats when the idea popped up. :D

I see tires like this a good bit. I try to look at the inside of steers whenever I service one. I see a lot of them on moving trucks. Probably from hitting curbs.

I am also having problems with a set of Goodyear 399 A steer tires. Bought both new from a Goodyear Wingfoot back in Nov 2013. The first one started getting flat spots with about 30,000 miles. Took it back for warranty and according to Goodyear they have to be sent in for warranty adjustment.I told them that my opinion was that it wasn't balanced properly and they should replace it at no cost to me. I had to purchase a new one for $624 while waiting for the last one to be sent off to checked out by Goodyear. This was about a month ago and I haven't heard nothing from them. Today I noticed a small flat spot forming on the other one that I bought in Nov 2013. Before I put them on I had king pins replaced and new shocks installed & 3 axle alignment. Wear pattern is perfect, no alignment issues,no loose wheel bearings, just flat spots. I know that once you get flat spots they will only get worse. Goodyear checked out my front end and found nothing wrong. So now I'm out nearly $2000 on 3 junk steer tires. These are my first & last Goodyear steers, going back to Michelin. Goodyear will get a good chewing out from me, you can count on it.

Yep had a personal experience with Chinese made crap on one of my trailers and it will never happen again. Cost me more money in the long run than the initial savings, just put on by the dealer and I was driving in high heat conditions stopped 5 hours from home to check the load and everything and I noticed the side walls on all of the tires were cracked!! Local tire shop happily sold me new tires at full price and then I spent several months waiting to get my money back. Michelin, Hankooks, Bridgestone that's all I run.

Kelly also sells chinese made tires. I took USA made tires for my steering and drive axle. It's better than the previous firestone fd690.
