Qualcomm? You have to pay to have someone elses trackinmg system in your truck? That ain't right!!! I'm not against qualcomm, but if a company wants to put in in my truck.... It's going to be at their costs. NOT MINE!

Food shouldn't be listed on your cost per mile. Unless you figured out how to put a bacon cheeseburger into the fuel tank & got the truck to run down the highway with it.

Maintnance is high. most people figure a dime on a older truck & a nickel on a newer one. But you did right with goinmg over a dime. Never hurts to have a little extra lying around.

Insurance is $777.00 a month? Who do you get your insurance from? I'm leased to Mercer & buy my insurance from them. Below are my costs & I just called them to verify.

Comp/Collision = $123.00/month with a tractor valued at $47,285.00

Bobtail = $20.00/month

Comp/Collision on trailer is $65.00/month Valued at $25,000.00

My insurance is only $208 a month. A far cry from $777!


And why do you have to pay yourself? I've seen so many O/O's concentrate on what they are going to pay themselves... They are more concerned about paying themself then they are at making repairs or buying fuel. When I see a O/O narrow down self wages, I automatically think that failure is in their future. I'm not saying your going to fail & I'm not saying everyone who pays themselves a set "WAGE" fails. But from what I've seen, most do!!!

I did & do my driver pay differently. I took all my monthly home bills and added them into my cost per mile. That way I'm not concerned with paying myself. My bills at the house are covered & all the extra money goes right back into the business. If I need $10 here or $20 there, I've got it. But my personal bank account will tell you I'm broke. Hell, I'll tell you I'm broke!! But my bills are paid & my maintnance gets done long before a major issue.... Except for my current egr system issues. But I don't see why I should take my truck out of service for 2 or 3 days for them to fix it when I can suffer till I get home. Have it fixed then & not only will I be living my personal life, I don't have to worry about motels or eating out either.

 

The OP stated he has his own authority which is why the insurance is higher. But with his revenue I don't know why he bothers having authority.

 

If he has his own authority.... Then why is there a qualcomm listing & price in his operating costs?

 

Some places have you run under your authority but as you pull their trailer haul their freight you pay for their method of communication.
