Good evening boys and girls. So I am currently filling out paperwork with all the brokers. TQL asked me to join Project 44. What is this and should I do it? I didn't bother to read about it, because I have been reading and filling out paperwork for the last two weeks, so I'm kind of reaching the end of my rope. But on the surface, it seemed like another way to keep the reins on us. What do you folks think?

I think i own my phone, not them.

If i ran the mc myself, i would probably get a second phone/line and just use that for the biz call stuff, turn phone on/off as i pick/deliver and on that, i wouldnt care quite as much about installing various tracking apps.

As it is, each time a broker sends me thier request to download app/ accept tracking, i just ignore it, then the broker tends to call you 18 times a day till after you deliver.

I swear, even working for a bigger company, dispatch was never up my keister as much as brokers

Tell 'em you'll do it for an extra $1.50 per mile, payable in full within 24 hours of delivery.

Project 44 is giving them access to your ELD for tracking.

Project 44 is a data clearing house system for load tracking.

It supposed to be for the load duration only system but some owners are questioning it.

I have had to use it for some customers but we use the app which are installed on phones I provide (cheap android ones) which are turned off when not in use, it is better for us to keep some customers happy who don't want their loads tracked through a third party like this.

It's awesome you're reading everything and not signing anything you don't agree with. You're off to a good start. Too many guys get out there and give the farm away then blame the broker when they gey bent over. I would never agree to give access to my phone nor ELD data to anyone but that's me though.

I didnt agree to the project 44 eld access. Even though they tell you its just tracking while under a load, the project 44 terms and conditions says they get full access, not just locations, to your eld all the time. No thanks. Since then ive used their phone app but i install it for the load and delete it when done.

I dont have an issue with tracking that some seem to have but only while under the load. My phone tells me every time an app gets my location so its easy to see which ones only do what they say. Chain is another app ive had issues with. First time i used it, it was still pulling locations the day after i delivered so i uninstall that one too.

Interesting, so what access to my non-eld truck is there?

They want to say my phone and information both buisness and personal is theirs, they can pay me for it handsomely

Another Canadian driver and Rickp Thank this.
