DAT and a broker are asking users to join "Project 44" which gives them the ability to track you in real time by using your ELD.
I'm hesitant to give anyone permission to track me and I'm concerned about what other information they may gather.
Have any of you signed up for this and if so, what's been your experience.

Hell no. In their contract it basically says you are giving up your privacy. Wanna use a tracking up? Fine. But you are not getting access to my ELD

For the first couple months they would send a email every week. Now they’re sending one a month.

Ask them have they sent a tracking app to the shippers and receivers that are slow to load and unload trucks

This seems to be a popular trend lately.
Coyote requested the same thing from me. They said the ELD hook up would be active only for the duration of the trip. To my surprise, they even made it sound conditional as to allowing me to retain some "special carrier" status with them... whatever it might be. I said no because it would delegate the tracking costs (whatever they might be) onto me, not them, and more importantly it would feel as something rather intruding, as if they installed a driver facing camera inside an owner operator's truck.
Coincidentally, a few days after they downgraded my app to a regular sort so that I could not click "book it now" button . That button allowed me to be one of the first to book their loads for a "preferential" rate...What the heck am I going to do now?

Sure is funny how there really conserned with the driver's and not the shippers and receivers delays.

What is the broker going to do, ask you why your not moving or why are you going that way?

We can/have set up our customers(not brokers) to log in and see a specific truck. Once the driver sends arrived at shipper they can see the position. As soon as the driver sends MT at receiver they can't see anything. They have no access to HOS or anything but the current position.

I would never let anyone set up their own access.

It’s really a lot more than just a way to track the load. Four Kites and Project 44 Sell data. Imagine these companies knowing where everyone is and how much they ran the lane for.
