I'm in school right now at roadmaster and you'd be lucky to find half of their students without holes and stains on their shirts. Pretty much looks like a truck stop. Don't expect much.

Just my two cents. If the school is not demanding work boots I would stick to an old pair of sneakers as it is so much easier to feel the clutch

My first day the crew looked pretty rough. 25 men and a couple looked like they might be homeless.
I thought" oh god what have I gotten myself into".
They turned out to be a great bunch of guys who I would love to see again someday.
Dont judge a book by its cover.

If your school makes you actually perform a real pretrip (mine did), you WILL get dirty. Checking slack adjusters on the drives and trailer tandems will get you every time. Good clothes are not advised but neither are you worst clothes.

That may be true if you are going to a school ran by the company you'll be driving for. But if it's a third party school, the way you dress for class will in no way affect your future success or failure.

Clean, hole-free, no inappropriate writing on t-shirts, long pants (no sweats), shoes that cover your feet and are comfortable. More important, of course, is your attitude ... Consider all of school as if it were part of your next job interview. The companies you apply to will very likely contact your school to find out about you...

Clean Shorts and sneakers are fine, this ain't Smokey and the Bandit, and wear a clean shirt too.

LOL, if they call it will be to the office staff to verify that you are there or went there. They are not going to ask how you dressed while at school. The instructors will be in the yard training. Wear whatever you want unless there is a specified dress code. But after that going to your first company, I would dress more presentable.

I wore the same "uniform" I wear on the road today 8 years later... t-shirt and jeans that I don't mind getting torn up and a pair of sneakers. And a hoodie. I have steel-toes and all the other required safety gear for the places that require it but they're few and far between running dry van.
