Sans sport coat, I worked with a driver many moons ago when I got started at Swift, who always wore a button down shirt and black tie, dress pants, and penny loafers to work every day. No joke...
Well since we are telling people what we wear lolol... Always a long sleeve shirt or hoody at shipper or receiver (mainly because of PPE req. even though some don’t care) 5.11 tactical pants are awesome. Nice pocket for my knife or a pair of pliers if I need them or carhartt bibs I have two good pair of steel toe boots I like to rotate 1 pair of thorogoods and one pair of Irish setters, often drive in them because they are comfortable. I will often switch to shorts and T-shirt and tennis shoes while driving but you won’t catch me at a shipper or receiver in shorts ever. When I get up in morn I am going to pickup or deliver I just put the long clothes on. Again I really don’t care what people wear at a truck stop. I do try and nod or say something positive to each person I pass by I don’t care who they are. I am sometimes met with a blank stare but more often than not I am also greeted back. I absolutely never toss thrash out my truck onto ground whether in a bag or not. That is tacky as hell in my opinion. I never leave trash at a shipper. I always greet the forklift driver before they load and always tell them to have a great day when we depart ways. I do appreciate positive role models because I think it may rub off on people who actually give a 1/4 cent. Even if just for a few minutes. I’ve enjoyed this thread.
Best jeans I ever had were these no-name jeans from Bangladesh. Lasted me 2 years. Used to soak them in degreaser and pressure wash them when they got grease stains on them. Could never find them again after I bought the first pair.
Its sad. In my opinion used to be the best. All I ever bought and worth the money. Haven't bought any for about 4-5 years. Last batch fell apart. I'll buy 5-6 pairs a years. Get rotated from good, work, garage, paint/drywall/crete, and trash. Try to keep a good rotation.
I knew a guy who dressed like that doing foodservice. Really. I thought at first that he was taking pride in his appearance, but it soon became obvious he was just trying to impress the ladies on his route...
