I have never really paid any attention to tanker drivers before, but I took a tanker job recently until I could find what I was looking for.
After 5 days on the job, all I can say is much to respect to you guys for the job you do. It's hazardous and dangerous. One person's mistake can make things go kaboom and you can kill yourself or others if you aren't careful and mess up a lot of things. Throw in some mountains, mountain grades, ice, snow and traffic and the danger level increases 1000 fold if not more.
You guys are overworked, under appreciated and underpaid for the job you do. So thankful to be starting back in LTL/Linehaul on Monday because driving a tanker and doing the stuff you guys do is definitely not for me. I don't know how you do it.
Lot's of respect, lot's of props to you guys. Stay safe and keep on doing what you do.
Props to you tanker drivers

Just strictly my opinion...
Tanker drivers should make $100K a year, be provided short term and long term disability insurance at the cost to the employer and be provided a $250K life insurance policy at the cost to the employer.
One spark and KABOOM is it all takes. yikes. One careless driver hitting your tanker just right, another careless trucker hitting you the wrong way and it's all over.
But it definitely made me feel uneasy and uncomfortable doing that job. Not my cup of tea. Kudos to you for what you do.cbra66, D.Tibbitt, skellr and 1 other person Thank this. -
