Well,I'm not sure what the deal is in this particular case, but I do know this sort of thing does happen. With the company I was leased to as an o/o it wasn't the owner but the safety manager and while it wasn't me he did it with, I talked to a few present and one previous company driver that all told the same story. I know they were telling the truth.
They DID try to book me loads that couldn't be legally done and be on time. I just refused them or told them they would have to reschedule the delivery which they did if they really wanted me to run that load. However the company drivers were all told they could not refuse loads and told they were a "team" truck. Now I agree they could have and should have said no. No one can make you run illegal. Company driver or not.
I have no trouble believing an owner would do what the OP claims. None whatsoever.
prosport runs danderously illegal loads !!!

It isn't a matter of being "smart" but rather it is a losing proposition for the driver. Now if these outlaw companies paid you cash under the table it would be a different matter. But they don't because there is no financial incentive for them. Only way 1099 works is if you have a "good" accountant with more tricks but his sleave than a street corner magician. Me, I prefer to be a good boy and do everything 100% legal so I can sleep at night.

I've worked with Prosport for 5 years and this guy is making this up... The owner is not named "Sorin Konnerth" nor have I met anyone by this name... Why would you drop the keys in Omaha NE when the owners and all employes live around Elk Grove? Any driver who claims to drive 100% legal is full of ##### or on E logs... So if you want to be a boys scout... Do so... Keep it to your self and don't expect a pat on the back... Your a man now you don't need the admiration of other... Stand on your own two feet and work like a man...770 miles?.... Lol... Man up...
-
I think Sorin was the sub contractor the OP drive for who was leased on to Prosport.

I like your attitude driver! Man up and get them miles done baby! A stand up guy like you surely would also man up and take his prison time if heaven forbid somebody got killed due to his negligence while he was falsifying logs, right?
-
I'm an Owner operator.... So I get paid enough per load I don't have to run illegal to make expences...
-
their starting e-logs now... So this is no longer an issue...

I only read the first page, but wanted to clear a few things up.
Running illegal logs has nothing to do with being "Russian, Romanian" etc. Has nothing to do with race.
It also has nothing to do with being an "immigrant."
Maybe you should get your racism issues checked out first. As well as a couple others on this forumcrzyjarmans, paparas and mladen86 Thank this. -
no, but you can bet your butt that the large majority of those companies have horrible HOS safety records
-
Oh really?
I run 100% legal and I'm not full of anything, or on e-logs. I am the captain of that ship and I will pilot it the way I see fit, NOT how some pencil pusher has the gall to try and tell me.
What a lame analogy if ever I've read one here.
In case it's escaped your attention, we have laws and regulations we have to follow, and choosing to comply with said regulations hardly qualifies anyone for the title of "boy scout" in the snide sense in which you used it.
"Man up", you say? Yeah, ok...
Let's do a little math here. 770 miles divided by 11 maximum allowed driving hours means an average of 70 mph. Just try not to kill anyone while running that hard.
Nobody said it did. But apparently companies ran by a fair percentage of certain folks have a tendency to operate considerably less than 100% above board. The motoring public at large really deserves better.
If this sort of thing is found, we would appreciate your using the "report" button, because we don't allow that here.Last edited: Sep 14, 2014
