Well, even though they are daylight running lights, they can't seem to differentiate between daylight and nighttime. And it really is inconsiderate to pull into a lot or dock area, and a driver is trying to back, and you can't turn off your lights unless you come to a complete stop and pop the air. But maybe that doesn't happen to you. We all have different situations, and I suppose some never have to deal with other trucks around them backing and such. The OEM's, it seems, design things around the idea that no one does anything with a truck but go down the road. And of course, I know it is a rather old and dying idea, but I still will flash my headlights off and back on when a truck passing me is safe to come back over. Not always noticeable with daytime running lights still functional. And unlike some morons today, I am not going to bright my lights in their mirrors. I suppose I could ignore any courtesy to them like Prime drivers, and not flash them at all. Just hard to break the courtesy habit after over 3 decades at this game.

For my pickup, you hit the nail on the head! I do not want to spook livestock on my farm. The second consideration is like I stated above. I really have no desire to have the headlight being on when I pull into a grain elevator and someone is trying to maneuver a truck and my stupid headlights blind them.

Makes sense, I just figured the guys with their lights on at the dock were probably the same guys who leave their lights on all night, parked at a truckstop. I used to have to guide trucks over a pit at a shop, never had a problem with DRLs, or even dims, just watch the bottom of the bumper and don't look directly at the lights. Other techs would throw a fit. I'd bring my car in, they'd act like they were the brightest things ever. Tell you what, you drive it in, I'll guide you. Didn't guide them into the hole once, the lights just aren't that bright. Though when maneuvering in the dark, you're probably better of eliminating as many distractions as possible.
