I am new to trucking. I thought I was doing good by going to PTL. I was proven wrong my first day out. I was paired with a "trainer" and left the yard in Murray. On my trip, I was called every name imaginable, was not allowed to use a GPS or qualcom. He said people like me should not be allowed to breed. He expected me to know where I was going and all of the stops along the way. He would not let me see our preplan to know any of this. He gave no guidance or help as to what I should or needed to do. Instead, he would scream at me after I made a mistake. He yelled at me for contacting my wife when I was off duty.He asked if I went to CDL school full of #######.Nothing I did was right. I was closing the doors after we had unloaded, he pulled forward pulling the door out of my hands and caught it on a rail. It broke 4 out of the 5 hinges on the door and somehow, he claimed it was my fault. I would NEVER recommend anyone working for PTL, especially if you have a chance of getting paired with this guy.

Did you report him to the company? Its guys like thiis that should not be a trainer.
bikertrash61 Thanks this. -
Yes, he has been reported. There is NO WAY I will get back in a truck with anyone like him or for PTL again.
-
Screw that..No room for a trainer like that, far as that goes, he needs to find another line of work.
bikertrash61 and Chinatown Thank this. -
Yeah I dont train (Thank god) but if I did I would try to get you as independent as possible over time. The thing is trainers like this dont show you guys any thing and then you go solo and end up killing someone because you dont know what your doing. But at the same time you don't want to force someone too quickly either.

Hey Drifter, I see youre from Paris. PM me, it wont let me PM you. I live in Paris now.

PTL has since sent me home and explained to me that it could take awhile before they send me out with another trainer. I have a VERY pregnant wife and dont have time to wait around on them. Any one know where I can go and still be home when my wife has the baby?
-
I prefer local or dedicated so I can be home some. PTL said "out six, home one" wouldnt be too bad but I was out 9 and was going to be gone at least 6 more before i got home for one.

Thanks to everyone for the advice and comments. Glad to be a part of a board with such helpful people.

I'm totally honest with you, I would've yelled at him back and knocked his ### out. No sense in that. Then drove back to the terminal where you won't get stuck with truck abandonment.
snowmantrucking101 and 48Packard Thank this.
