At the end of the day, no matter what the situation or circumstance, I think it boils down to asking yourself " Did I do the best that I could?" If you can say yes to that simple question, then you left it all on the field, however the chips land is not up to you at that point.

Well, in my sister's husband situation, they can't ask those questions because they don't know the answer. He was special forces in Desert Storm. When your friends die right next to you, it's not as easy as telling them to deal with it.

yup I worked with a lot of old hands when I started at the start o the 80s that had been POWs or had bad times during ww2....one hand went everywhere with his dog when they passed another one would appear ,,no one else was allowed animals in cabs but the old boss understood .,,bobby(x concrete navy) talked to it all day ...it kept him sane ,,harry used to go "weird" on people in Jap cars/tvs.

Whatever. You deal with it. Everyday. It doesn't go away. Or you can play the poor me, fall off into the fringes of society and become an outlaw biker or something useful like that. Or just put a .45 in your mouth. Or just snap out of it, and move on.
