They just make phone calls to former employers..........

 

Don't sweat it Rex. The company is required by DOT to go back 10 years on driving jobs. If you never drove before they are only required to go back 3 years. It is nothing but a fax verifying employment after a phone call for the fax #. Since you are starting out it's a good idea to keep a diary of sorts of your employment history. You'll need it again in the future.

The whole idea behind this background check is to make sure you ain't drove under another CDL and did something bad. That's all they care about. It's almost impossible to do nowadays because of computers and states communicating, but the old laws are still in effect.

I just requested a transcript from the IRS. I was shocked when I got it in five days. You can go to socialsecurity.gov to get that work statement. It helps remember stuff.

 

You may save some worries by reading the FMCSA's rules and regulations. The way I read the rules is you are only required to list 10 years if the jobs were CMV jobs. Otherwise you only list 3 years. See FMSR §391.21(b)(10) and §383.35(c)(1)
