New rule a few years back. Must self certify through your State. Used to have to go into the SOS/DMV here in Mi. a real PITA. Now it’s easy, upload a copy of the card online. I don’t think you’re required to Carry the actual card anymore. That Officer already knew you were expired, or had forgotten to self certify. Info’s tied to your CDL#, It comes up when they run you’re license. If for some reason you can’t get the physical done, most States allow you to downgrade your CDL to Intrastate only status, through the same online process. Then update and upgrade it back to Interstate status when you get the new card. That will avoid getting downgraded and possibly having to re take tests. That’s my understanding. Had to do exactly that 2 yrs ago, after failing a stress test, required every 2 yrs. after having a heart attack. Had to schedule a heart cath and passed it. It’s time again for the bi annual stress test. Hoping for the best.

We're good for 5 here until age 45. After 45, its every 2 years, after 65 its annually. The license expires when the medical does.

I don't believe they'll issue a license on that short of an interval. Government website says it's issued for 1 to 5 years based on age or medical conditions.

I am sure you picked up some PSP for the violations. Usually the state will send a letter/email if they have ALREADY downgraded your CDL due to an out of date medical. In my experience a prompt solution doesn't necessarily leave any lasting bad mark in your file. Just google FMCSA and PSP and it will let you buy your PSP report for $10 and get instant results. It may take a few days after an inspection to show up in your file.

I would put an alert on your phone calendar or something to that effect and make it for like 60 days prior to expiration day had a reminder that your medical is coming due that way you can eliminate this issue

We are good for ever down here. Good or bad poke in as many pies as you like, drink as much coke as you can, get as fat and unfit as you like and if you got a license at 17, your good for life.

No medicals till you turn 75 generally.

This is actually pretty bad, but I'm also happy we are no so governed as the US seems to be. Its changing however with one State requiring a medical for dangerous goods.

Texas sends two letters warning of a soon to be expired med card. The third one is a downgrade letter. Also when I do the inspection I bring the copy to my local DPS office so they will immediately file it on record. If you email or fax it then it could take a week for it to be in the system.

Last year, in Texas, during the Covid plandemic, DPS missed 60,000 medical card renewals due to understaffing.
I got the infamous downgrade letter in the mail, gathered up all my paperwork from the renewal, went into dmv office and watched them enter it in. The clerk claimed it was a colossal State ##-up, and they knew it. Still charged $10.00 counter fee.
