We just had a guy drive down to GA from IL in his car to look at a sd we had for sale. He put a deposit on it and came back with his W9 to pick it up.

i wouldn't buy anything sight unseen, it seems in the truck paper when a good deal comes up its sold by the time i see it and call on it. If not sold by the time you drive there and go look at it come back get the truck and go down to pick it up. you add your fuel and time its no longer such a good deal. I will check out around ky though as i have a brother that lives in bowling green that could probably go look at them for me.

prices are certainly inflated in my area. however you could easily spend the 2000 difference in price in fuel and time to buy out of state unless your willing to buy sight unseen.

work has actually been quite busy at my current job here the last week or so have not had any real opportunity to work on anything or make any phone calls. I did get declined from crst safety wouldn't sign off on a minor accident i had in a personal vehicle almost 5 years ago. They said they could get me approved in a few months when that accident becomes more than 5 years old. There not super high on my list of prospective employers anyway so I wont shed a tear over that. I am going for my home time soon so ill be able to get my last few documents that mercer needs to get a final answer from them.
I did get a couple hours on Wednesday that I turned a few wrenches on the truck I also have found a flat bed to rent to possibly open up some other opportunity where i would have to supply my own trailer so i wouldn't necessarily have to buy one right off the bat if something came of one of those deals.

Hey EZ, i been with Mercer for a little while now. So far I cant complain, good people and fast pay. Except for their sign-on truck inspection.LOL. anyone thats with mercer knows what i mean. not ONE single person i have met has passed first time that i know of. Other than that, so far so good. GOOD LUCK!

so your saying to bring Vaseline for the sign on truck inspection...lol

I have gone over the truck pretty good fixed anything i thought was ether due to be replaced or close to due to be replaced. basically with the mind set of i don't want any break downs starting out that could have been avoided by changing something that was not in tip top shape before starting out. I would rather spend the money now when its on my time and at my convenience. only real thing i got left to do is take it in for a all wheel alignment and replace a tail light that has some corroded connections inside.

Hopefully i wont have too meany surprises on a sign on truck inspection.

I passed the first time, but was told to keep an eye on my trailer brakes, they were getting close. I have been here since June of last year, the only complaint I have is their policy on getting your truck inspected every six months. But I also understand and know why they do it this way.

LOL. yeah....basically. just make sure you cover ##### before you leave home to go through with the deal. hers a tip on a few things they are gonna look for and get alot of guys on,:exhaust, brakes, wheel seals, tires, shocks, springs, windshield and glass. than ofcourse the obvious, lights, reflective tape, air horn and city horn, BOTH have to work to pass for them. i mean this is ALL obvious anyways, just sayin...some guys dont even know what rearends are in there trucks, seems like a wheel seal would be obvious , but not to some.

ABS is also a big one that will get you failed. it must work on the trailer and your truck, or no go for you.

i have a 07 kenworth and a 05 fontain stepdeck and keep both of them in good shape. if it needs it, it gets it. well, they failed me for 3 things...

the first one is funny, inspector says," your windshield washer fluid is not spraying hard enough on you windshield"....i laughed and said, ok....next.....you have an airline rubbing on your trailer, at the rear axle...ok.......your reflactive tape on the back of your cab is not "high"enough.....it needs to be about 6 or 8 inches above your headach rack. whatever. took me 15 minutes and i was done. MANY other fellas were not so lucky. some speny 500 to 1500 to the service guys that were there on site. a couple of them just had to go on home because they showed up with so many problems, they didnt have the money to fix their stuff. which was 100 percent their fault, not mercers.

My point is, even though we are supposed to have all this stuff in good shape anyways, you would be AMAIZED on how many guys show up with many many problems. i felt bad for the ol boys that had to go home, but they are very tough in the inspection.

my truck and trailer had just got a level 1 in missouri the week prior and i have a cvsa sticker on my truck and trailer.....he laughed and said, "whats that got to do with me".....my replies was, i guess we are gonna find out aint we.

good luck EZ and hope to see aboard sometime soon.
