Yup.
Stupidest thing about the ProStar's.
A little button amid other buttons for the air horn.
Just try to find it in time, when you really need it.

Speaking of the antenna in the Prostar, I'm at the SB rest area right above DC on 95, and am picking up 52 tv stations, and for free. The Prostar has it's advantages.
I really do believe that the people that design these trucks have never been in one for more than a couple of hours. I'm sure their designing approach would change after spending 21 days/nights in one of these trucks.mattbh23 Thanks this. -
I just went and picked up my bosses brand new 389 pete and hunters yesterday, man was that thing nice, I really enjoyed driving a brand new truck before anyone else had their hands on it. 270 miles on her.

my 05 International has the air horn on the steering wheel. Takes a lot of getting used to but you do eventually remember it's on the wheel.
Two hands on the wheel, no?
-
I suspect they spend a lot more time in the trucks than you think. The thing is, an engineer can only design what the bosses allow them to design. I'm quite sure every engineer on the team that built those trucks knew full well that no trucker was going to like having a button for the air horn. But if the right person somewhere up the chain of command has it in their head that horns should only be actuated via steering wheel mounted controls, then the engineer is going to build it that way or that engineer isn't going to get much of a year end bonus. Can you blame them?

Man so all that pre-trip stuff I learned in class about the air horn being in the corner....grrrr a button though....I get a thrill pulling on a cord lol....
-
yeah, mine too, (2010 pro star day cab), as well as cruise control, jake brake, clearance lights blinking, headlights blinking..
and the REAL KILLER is that the buttons on the steering wheel are so dimly lit. there is NO adjustment to make them brighter....
is it any wonder i push the wrong button from time to time..??..
-
Haha gravdigr you know what it is right? Its not because its a pro star the dealership saw you coming and figured you didn't have the strength to pull the cord... I kid I kid. But that is just too odd it seems to me that they are just turning the tractors into oversized cars.
-
I'm sure y'all have also noticed the air horn doesn't sound as robust as it used to, either. It's getting higher pitched with every truck I get. More like a car horn than anything, just louder.
-
The joke's on you guys............news flash...........there is no "air horn" ! ! ! Look on your roof, do you see one ? Open your hood, stand on your steps, push your horn button and notice a little horn attached to the firewall, kind of a slightly modified car horn, electrical style.
hup and DrtyDiesel Thank this.
