I know the feeling. I bought a 69 RS camaro that was almost mint condition for 1200 bucks. The vacuum hiding headlights even worked. Drove it to IN from CA and was offered 3 grand for it. I hate to think what it would be worth today....:crybaby:

Had a neighbor who had one of those RS models...not sure of the year, but I remember being fascinated by the hideaway headlights. His was that beautiful bronze with a black vinyl top. Sweet car.

Love those old Chevelles too....love to have one or twelve now, in fact!

Just a great, great looking automobile!

Actually it isn't the $ value of that Chevelle today that gives me that sinking feeling...well maybe a little bit...but the fact that I was too young and stupid to realize what I actually had...an all factory original 1968 SS 396 Chevelle muscle car, that is now a very unique and sought after car that I will probably never own again. Hell, a friend of mine still has his very first car that he bought back in the middle 70's...a 1969 Dodge Coronet R/T with the 440 motor. You talk about fast.

my ole man still has his 66 Ford Fairlane GT 390 4spd that he bought while in college in 68 from the original owner. it now has 47000 mile on it

my mom tells the story that we had to eat hamburgers and hotdogs for 2 months so he could scrape the money together to buy it.

about 8 years ago i bought a 66 Fairlane GTA. complete body but everything else came in boxes.... one day.

i also have a 78 Ford F250 4x4 that i put a 429 police interceptor in. 4 whyl drive burn outs are nothing for that thing.:biggrin_2559:
