Yep, the trainer doesn't split his pay even when team, though the student will obviously. .35/mile the truck moves.
The student must get 7,000 miles under their belt and take a road test before going into team phase. During that 7,000 miles the trainer must be in the jump seat at all times. The trainer can drive if needed but you both start your 14 at the same time. After the road test the truck will run team loads for roughly 2 months.

I was accepted into orientation here and at this other place.
After doing dry-vans and feeling fairly attached to them, I'm still having a hard-time adjusting to reefer freight despite being with Navajo for about a month.
Apart from that, the home-time, pay, fuel-solutions/routing, no HAZMAT and everything like that looks just fine.
I've also seen that a lot of guys boast about running back east and such, but from talking with a few Pride drivers, they said that "11 western runs only" are available if you want just that. -
This is a good thread, please keep it going... does CRE share terminals withe them near San Diego where you can leave the truck during hometime? (wishing is free)

As for the Western 11, you could essentially stay Western 11, but most guys end up getting tired of it and running wherever. They picked up a lot of freight in the midwest though and I hear more guys doing Illinois/Wisconsin/Minnesota to SLC or CA and back more than anything lately. A lot of guys I run into in SoCal are heading to Wisconsin or Illinois.
Pretty much you'll be in SLC on a return trip or maybe 2 trips no matter where you go which is why I don't think most guys don't care about trying to stay out west. You won't be doing a month long trip to get back to the terminal most of the time. If you live in SoCal you'll get through there every couple of weeks as well usually. My friend I ran team with gets a night or two at the house every 2-3 weeks usually that's not counted as home time.
I run local with Pride now which is why I say I hear things as I'm not OTR atm. But I see many of the drivers I knew from running OTR and can see where all the trailers I'm getting preloaded for the OTR guys are going to know where the freight is being run. -
When you work OTR does it matter where you take your time off... I live in Salt Lake City, but the only family I have (my sister) is in the San Diego Area... I could park my car at Mira Loma and enjoy Utah's lower taxes.... does it work that way?
I guess I'll know when I apply... -
I hired on with Pride last April and my trainer was from San Diego. He got home as often as he wanted. For less than a week at home he was able to take his truck home (had a local place to park) but if he was going to be home longer he parked at CRE in Mira Loma or at the terminal in SLC and flew home. You can't beat Pride's equipment!!
