Plant was closed here in CT from thanksgiving to early March. Some plants were open into December and one plant was open through the winter. Each plant sets their own schedule based on demand and forecast and maintenance plans for the plant. My company had a month or so of truck and equipment maintenance during the winter as well. And unemployment during the off season

I've ran frameless end dumps and some short dumps, both for about 11 years. Class A is best...leaves ya options.
It's not "drop and hook" or no touch freight like a lotta guys run (no offense to the rest of y'all...just the truth). It can be a lot of physical labor spraying down, cleaning out, digging out, etc.
Running these trucks and dumping some places we dump and some of the jobs we do is and can be very technical and dangerous. Takes skill and practice.
Pay is okay, and has the potential to be good....but you're gonna have to run hard and run often.
Any other questions just ask. -
Oh and always watch your bed when you raise it. If you get material stuck in the nose of the box on unlevel ground it will tip you quick
