an driver sending changes to the directions only works if someone pays attention at the other end. i did this for months with usa truck til the 3rd time i got a load going someplace id been before, sent changes to directions on, and saw that nothing had changed. this was the thing that irked me the most about working for them...directions tended to be bad, and no one would bother to change them when prompted to...at least not my changes.

For the most part it has been good to me for the last couple of years. There have been some hiccups, but nothing that I could not handles. At times you just have to watch the routing, like once, Baytown to Hurricane, UT, was routing me 350 miles OOR. Talked to my DM, told me that route myself, no extra pay for OOR. Told him that this is also the Swift routing, and he told me, if company driver, then paid the extra.

It's been mostly right and effective for me, its the first ever gps I have used. Just sometimes it wants to cheat and give the shortest route, meaning it has a time or two wanted me to turn on tight, tiny side streets thro neighborhoods, where it would have been a real challenge just to get a 10 speed bicycle to make that turn. Other times, when coming up to a split, lets say 240 or any number, it won't tell you which way on the split to take, east or west, north or south, etc. You just have to sit there and watch the colored line go in which direction you should be going into. Yes it would rather route you to save a mile on small inner city streets and busy shopping centers with a million traffic lights. Than just take you out to a main road or highway and then get you back from there. So yes, its great when you have an upcoming turn you have to make, telling its' either 4 blks up or 4 miles up.

Mine updated yesterday, how does every one like the new changes and colors and features?

It even now will show truckstops along the route you are taking. I tried that feature, it only went about 250 miles out, so I would assume that during the middle or towards the end of your day if you wanted it to show you the trkstps, you would have to re-ask it for the updated info.

I do like the new updated version. It even now tells you when you are getting off the ramp which way you will be turning, when before, it would tell you until you got to the top of the ramp.

    truckbuddha Thanks this.

The Qualcom has shut off the routing and or starting screaming "not approved" too many times for me to ever trust it as my sole source of GPS guidance.

I routinely run the Qualcom in the "where am I" mode while using my Garmin for turn by turn guidance. I switch the Qualcom back to the guidance mode when I'm gettin close to my destination. My Garmin has bit me (yes, it's a truck model) too many time to trust it completely. I've very happy with the software update that appeared on my Qualcom's GPS Thursday.

Click on Where to, then points of interest and then trucking or amenities. Then you get many choices. It also has a feature that shows major customers nereby from where you are. Lots of new cool features. Waiting for a Vid msg to come out on the QC to tell everyone to take some time to look at it and learn it.

Not always. If a driver is quitting and is ticked, he can send in some corrected directions, and if someone sees them and then changes them, they could be all wrong. This happened to a friend of mine not long ago.

I remember getting in trouble several times for taking a route different to swifts directions and being paid alot of extra money for their route where mine shaved off almost 100 miles and refusing to tell them the updated route cause I didnt want them screwing other drivers, pissed them off alot.
