Why?
Is this a poor attempt at humor or is there actual seriousness behind this comment?
Do explain. I've had several scale cops ask to look at my elog. There was nothing to be worried about. I was actually glad to show it to them as I knew the margin for error was extremely low.

I meant just for if you have to go over hours a little bit maybe that would keep a driver from being in violation he could just tell the co some BS story or play dumb if asked why the quallcomm went out for 1/2 hour
-
Your right, the majority of people who aren't pleased with elogs are those that can't log legally.
I've ran paper logs before and now I'm on electronic and I don't hate them.
I know you said "most"
but I'm just sayin...
Not trying to accuse you of anything or even question your honesty on how you log your driving but when I hear, in this case read someone say that they haven't gotten a log violation in that amount of time, the last thing that runs through my mind is, wow, a person who logged 30 years of driving, perfectly. Hopefully you can understand why myself or anyone for that matter wouldn't immediately see a red flag come flying up.
Again, I'm not accusing you of anything so don't read me the riot act.
Just pointing out that 30 years of violation-free logs could mean that you slipped under the radar and avoided getting caught. -
Yeah , tell a story like you were in having a bowel movement and somebody stole your truck and drove it 20 miles down the road .
Or you're a Schneider driver and were sleeping in the sleeper and another Schneider driver came out of the truckstop and started driving your truck by mistake . -
Yeah I think those storys would work....
-
I started with schnieder with there choice program in July. I still have not gotten used to the Elog. It thows my sleep pattern off. We are never on the same page , far as sleep goes.

Peoplenet,
"Remote Vehicle Shutdown, in partnership with Magtec, gives truck fleets the ability to protect loads 24/7 and mitigate preventable accidents and other in-transit incidents, including theft'making everyone from truck drivers to dispatchers feel more secure, especially when high-risk loads are involved. The system engages automatically, without the assistance or intervention of the driver, allowing carriers to remove a driver's code and completely disable operation of the truck'if they become a potential threat or liability. Carriers can also remotely set and control idle times and speed thresholds to maximize fuel efficiencies."
This was copied from the Peoplenet website. So yes if a company chooses to purchase Magtec they can remotely shut you down. This isn't a myth. But it's my understanding it is expensive and has an extremely long installation time.
But line 5 is a myth. There are only 4 lines on a log period, that's paper and electronic. Personal Conveyance has to be recorded as off duty time on the log but noted as driving. Not sure what will happen if DOT gets hold of line 5 since there isn't one.
Also on the DOT website it says drivers are not allowed to edit their e-logs, again not sure what will happen if the DOT sees someone editing their elogs.Last edited: Feb 15, 2013
