I can't count the times I've used the search feature to find a nearby truck stop or scale, only to find out the nearest one is 50-100 miles away or none exist nearby. Later I'll pass right by a Pilot or FJ with a CAT scale within 15 miles.

The more I use the Qualcomm Nav feature the more I want to explore alternate truck specific GPS systems and use it in tandem with QC.

The big roads are boring ... no adventure in that.

I have a love/hate relationship with my qualcomm

this load im taking to Hermiston, OR right now originally wanted to route me going from the 15 to the 93 and up, I have been to Oregon a few times now and have never used the 93, I stopped at the TA in barstow and started checking routes, Google maps confirmed the route I wanted to take and normally do, I then cut over on the 58 to the 395, once I was able to reroute the quallcom I dropped 80 miles on the route...the other route would of been over a hour longer....

I dont get these issues too often, normally the routes look good

Lately my quallcomm has been freezing up or just going out of route and saying im "off road" and normally at the worst possible time. Tonight was a good example, was coming down the 95 and you get to a stop sign where you must take a left to continue on the 95, well I saw a gas station with trucks to the right and wanted to shut down for the night so I turned right to find that entrance to find no entrance at all, I hit reroute and it took me through a town heading towards Boise, after a couple miles the quallcomm froze up, I tried to find the next turn but then passed it so I turned down the next large street I came to then found a spot and pulled over to check routes before I end up somewhere I shouldnt be, quallcomm kept me "off road" but I found if I went straight ahead a few miles I could get right on the 84 which ultimately was the route I needed. Long story short always have a plan and dont just follow the gps especially on the quallcomm. Eventually I will get me a trucker specific gps when I can afford it for these kind of moments. I dont get myself lost very often but when I do its unneeded stress.

I agree but a new driver that's unsure about the road the GPS has him on needs to go the bigger road route to stay out of trouble. Even if it's 50 miles extra IMO

A new driver will always be unsure, until he gets his butt out there ... and as soon as you get off the big road you better be relying on more than a GPS.

My RM510 has done the exact same thing.
Sometimes the maps are out of date, but that should NOT!!! be a problem with a company/QC GPS.
