Hi, everyone! I am confirmed to start newbie school at Celadon on April 21st. I can't wait, I am relatively local so I will be driving down. I hope to see some of you there. I'll be the one with the red hair.
Why Celadon? Good question. They have a terminal less than 20 miles from my home, there is no upfront cost for the school (which is very good since I will be leaving Burger King wages to go to training), most everything I had read about them was super-positive until very recently but most importantly (drumroll please)... It appears that just about all of the companies that hire people who have no idea what they are doing...erm, uh, that is to say, newly licensed CDL holders... are just about the same. This one had no problem getting me in the door less than 24 hours after my last day at BK. I talked to my recruiter in person and the MidAmerica Truck Show in Louisville a couple weeks ago and got a very positive impression from her. I am genuinely looking forward to getting on the road and finally having a decent paycheck. Wish me luck!
I sure will dumblod ( which ur not and you re making a great and noble choice ) . i have been many good things about them so yeah i too am going to apply to their driving school and see what happens. Its my dream to become a trucker/ to do it right abdand safety! To boldly go where i never gone before , to be strong finfinancial and live good in life .
Best of luck to you! Perhaps I will see you in Indy. Don't forget to take all of the practice tests that are available. They have been a huge help and after several weeks of studying them I can pass them everytime. The real trick for me is going to be learning to actually drive the truck. I have a hunch it will be a bit different than my old Suburban. Oh! More importantly make sure you bring ALL the paperwork they tell you to bring for the BMV. They don't kid around up here, no paper trail = no license. You posted about a week ago that you just wanted to be sure you were making the right choice. My advice is to stop worrying about that. There is no way to know if the option you didn't take would have been better. Just make the choice you made work for you.
I just got my airline ticket (coming from CA) for Sunday. I start classes for the CDL Monday April 14 in Indianapolis for Celadon. Looking forward to getting started. See you all soon
Newbie: Bags are half packed. I don't leave til Sunday morning at 8am. I hope I see you there while I am at that school for 6 weeks. Good luck to you.
Ok, Sonex7 and Whiteknuckle94.... You have to be settled in Indy by now. We are waiting with baited breath to hear how things are going so far. Don't keep us waiting too long.
