Quality Drivers Training Program at Celadon

NEWBIE TRUCKER --Thanks for your reply. Are you at the school now or planning to go? I'm tying up loose ends where I live in CA and it is my plan to begin in mid April next month. They said they will pay for an airline ticket which I thought was great.

 

Sonex yea I'm in the process of getting my affairs in order and trying to convice my family that this a great plan for me . to me celadon is a great company to start out with as ur trucking company . Sonex, why trucking ??

 

Is anyone on this forum currently attending the driver training program at Celadon? I'd like to ask some questions about it.

 

Newbie: For the last 10 years I worked as an estimator for auto collision damage. I worked in body shops mostly but did some work for insurance companies along the way. The last shop I worked out decided to close the collision center and that suddenly left me without a job. I am/was trying to get the same type of position but nothing is available, and I mean nothing. So it looks like I have to reinvent myself. I found some sites about trucking on the internet while I was looking for an estimating job. That led me to do alot of research about trucking and liked what I saw and the money you can make after that first year. I heard Celadon was a good company and their school offered the most. Plus, Celadon has a terminal in Fontana, CA which is about 50 miles from my home. They said I could have that as my home base. That would make getting home much easier.

Why have you decided on trucking?

 

My reason for being a trucker is because of the fact that I gotten sick of being payed minimum wage and not getting nowhere ! This has been my way of thinking since 2011 and I realize that trucking is the answer I seek . i love trucking and I love seeing the country .. I'm just hoping/ praying I can begin my life again . just tired of sitting around waiting /hoping for something instead of actually doing it !!

Flex RU going to be an otr driver or a regional driver ??
Saw on their website that they have canadian routes / mexican routes .

 

I will be otr. You will drive to Canada but not Mexico.

 

Nice. They may be a major mega carrier but I like what they bring to the table / hence why I chose them

 

going to fill out the online application tomorrow and get the ball rolling. Anxious to get started with the training. The things I've read about Celadon are mostly positive. Hope to see you all soon!
