Cant lose something that your going to give back just plan to run it a while and make some money working in a new truck trying to own this truck has never once crossed my mind once i saw the process involved. It wont hurt to run it a lil bit while under warranty but at their price it would be insane for me to try to keep up the kind of pace required to keep this truck and the ending figure i could have bought three trucks. So from my point of view with this truck im looking at this from a pure lease deal no intention of owning

No. I've looked at that way of becoming an O/O though. The prices after all said and done are ridiculous. They seem to get a lot of people straight out of the hood to sign these deals though. I've spoken to 6-7 guys that got trucks through them and went to Forward Air. Between the high cost of the truck and the low revenue from Forward Air they all pretty much said the same thing. I'm walking away from this. I've learned a lesson. They will lease a truck to just about anyone with a pulse over there.

That statement doesn't make sense. You are willing to earn less take home pay so you can rent a truck and call yourself an owner operator? Ok to each his own I guess.

You can't call yourself an owner op since it's a lease and if done correctly you can take home more than a company driver and on top of that you have a free swing at trying to be like an owner operator with all the long term effects if you fail especially since it's a walk away lease.

That may be the 2nd stupidest thing I've heard today but it's early yet. It's a walk away lease because there is no downside for Quality. This would generally mean there is no upside for the driver leasing. I agree if you were a company driver for say, Western Express, you might make slightly more renting a truck like this. In general though, most who do this rental business are set up to fail. There is no correct way to rent a truck and lease on to a carrier's authority on a mileage contract.

As a Company driver I gross $70k. Mileage contracts at $1.08 +Fuel Surcharge don't make those rental payments and pay you a living wage. Ask all those Swift drivers that are doing the same thing trying to find people to take over the payments.
