Yeah it is ... but, to be able to do effective research and analysis is a critical skill to running a successful business ... the information is pretty easy to find ... if the person asking is to lazy to do the research, to find which companies are percentage, he stands no chance of being able to do the research and analysis to determine where the viable lanes are and to determine their profitability.blade, scottlav46 and blacklabel Thank this.

I gotcha. Google is your friend. Anyway. I know Mercer and Jones are both percentage. I'm not sure what the other one is.blacklabel Thanks this.
-
There is another one for sure maybe more, I just know of the 3
-
By the way. I totally agree it's about revenue not miles. I don't know how guys on mileage contracts make money.
blacklabel Thanks this. -
Might be why I picked up a 2016 with 46k miles and multiple previous drivers
gonejpn Thanks this. -
It comes back to that research and analysis thing ... there's a an average rate for all lanes ... some pay very well, some pay so so and some don't pay anything at all.
Percentage provides the opportunity to try and stay in the high yield lanes ... do it wrong and you go down the tubes fast.
Mileage contracts pay to the average, and include pay for dead head. No need to worry about lanes ... just chase the miles.
Think of it this way ... percentage is a day trader, chasing the big score, opportunity for high returns. But, the potential for big losses. Mileage is a mutual fund, not as sexy, lower ceiling on the rate of return. But, it is steady, consistent and easier to manage.MidWest_MacDaddy, Trukfit813, Rcross6774 and 8 others Thank this. -
Good analogy. Knowledge of the business and lanes are key.

It's do-able. We've done it for the last 3 years. But there are red flags being thrown in our faces where we are at, and we have decided that it is time for a change. We have approval in hand. Just waiting on something we don't have control over right now.Ghostridah21 Thanks this.

The person asking is certainly not too lazy to effectively research. He was just asking a simple question, not asking who your direct shippers were or how much you get paid in certain lanes. I'm aware of Jones & Mercer and possibly Suntech but just wanted gonna pick y'all's brain real quick. I'll try to remember that these forums are not designed for these types of questions, haha!
