Maybe you should rethink what you just said, there will be more people that will disagree then agree. A real O/O is somebody that can go to a dealer and buy what ever truck he/she wants with getting a loan and do whatever they like with there own authority. And yes some will lease on to a company because they are more comfortable with the company finding the freight. A lease driver is just that, a lease/company driver that does not have the freedom to do what they want with there truck until paid off and for the most part stuck with that company until paid off. As rachi said, some do succeed at a lease and it's a tool to ownership. True O/O are businessman that have savy, most L/O are not.

And....There are some drivers who lease a truck but never get to own it. That was the case for me when i tried the lease deal in 2006.

Im in the process of leasing a truck thru Volvo, and leasing it on to a company. What does that make me. Not that i really f'n care... And i have no plans to ever own the truck or have my own authority.

What is the benefit of leasing the truck and putting it on with a company if you never want to own it?Why not just be a company driver?

Full maintance lease, never have to worry about that. And its a 100% tax deduction. Earning potential is greater, not a lot but a few hundred dollars a week.
I consider the truck as a tool, and the lease payment is just a cost of doing business.

    dlh731 and Rcross6774 Thank this.

I guess that would make you a not to smart L/O. But with your attitude I think you should smoke another ThaiStick, I'm sure you will feel more like a genius.
