Ok, so I'm not even go to read the posts and maybe someone has already said it. When you get a 2 MPG or a 15, or some such crazy numbers, it's due to the fact that you transposed the numbers on your odometer. The automated message you're getting is just a basic program. Next time you get one call your FM and say, dude WTF? 0.006 MPG? I'm pretty sure I'll be out of fuel before I get to the CAT scale. They'll explain what is causing the issue and life will be all groovy, except for that part where you're entering your hubs wrong.

the fuel gauge on my deathstar occasionally runs backwards.

this morning when i turned on the key the gauge beeped at me because the needle was pegged on E.

i idled the truck for ten minutes and the needle slowly rose to 1/8.

after an hour of driving the needle had risen to above 1/4.

it was touch and go, but i managed to get to gary before my tanks overflowed.

This is for Melton, we use a macro not entering a mileage in to send for the calculated mpg. Unless I didn't understand what your saying maybe its just me. Fill the tanks send in 32 when they're full, message back comes with our MPG overall and since last fill up. Not a number off the hub. Or I completely missed what u were saying.

I would assume that at some point you enter a hub reading. loaded or empty. Otherwise they're basing it fully off of the ECM and that's no way to calculate fuel.

Of course. We enter it at the pump when we enter the rest of the info after swiping our fuel card. I entered the wrong miles once and my message "32 - Full fuel tanks" came back with a wacky MPG. I looked at what I entered and realized what I did.

The QC in this truck has the milage on it, I use it when I fill in my mt call, you can see it on the bottom of the page.
