Hmm, I have only been here six months, but I made bonus last quarter.

I just keep my cruise at 60 and shut off the truck when I am not driving.

I myself either made two or three per year. I never make summer...I refuse to roast, so my idle time is usually between 50 and 55%. Missed the first quarter of 2011 again because of idle. They only give you 5%, and sometimes I either run my computer off the truck power or I run some other appliance. Either way, it's a drain on the batteries, and you sometimes have to run 'em to charge 'em. There was also a quarter I disputed my OOR percentage, but I'll give you one guess who won THAT argument....

The bonus program is just another reason I'm leaving SNI.

You could almost figure that as long as your DBL doesn't make a huge issue out of it, you're probably better off going 90% overspeed and just picking up more miles. The extra 4 mph will add up to way more than the measly quarterly bonus. Last quarter my bonus was like $300. My overspeed is consistently around 1.5-2%. Might have to re-evaluate things or figure out how some of these system drivers can set their cruise at 64. I've been told that they are good buddies with the mechanic. And before you say "they have a team truck probably", they don't. They have solo trucks where overspeed is set at 60, but the cruise is turned up.

It's my understanding that after 6 years, your OOR miles has to be 6% or less to get your bonus? That's pretty much ridiculous since I have literally no "OOR" miles, but because the short miles pay us to drive restricted routes, I pretty much can not break 6.75% OOR. Try getting less than 10% OOR miles on any load coming out of Big Island, VA. Only time I managed that is when I went over to the DC area.

OOR miles are based upon your routed miles, not on paid miles. My OOR lingers around 4% as a rule, and during winter months, if I have to re-route myself due to conditions, I can usually get a "routing point" (unpaid miles, but miles that don't go against my OOR) to help out.

I've only been outside the 6% once in 4 years.

My trucks have always been set that way...60 on the pedal, 64 on the cruise, from day one. Not a buddy with any mechanic. You need to quit relying on "what I've been told" and ask better questions.

To beat the Q.C. idle ( when I worked common carrier ) I watched my idle during the run AND when it came time to go nite nite I did this.......

Park it.... switch to sleeper then LOG OUT of the truck. It's charging the driver for the idle so if you log out, it will charge the truck. And this isn't going to work forever either. Their going to figure it out....... eventually but it will keep you comfortable or get you the bonus if you're over in a quarter etc.
