Grumpy as I said SC doesn't have DA's I worked for the capital city police in Columbia, we have a city attorney who is in charge of the jury trial docket. They do not get involved with traffic offenses or misdemeanor offenses. The do not get involved in any traffic cases unless it involves DUI's. You reside in Louisiana and should know that each state's laws and prosecution of said laws differs greatly. We have circuit Solicitors that handle Felony cases.
. I've never claimed to have first hand knowledge of the way Charleston prosecutes their traffic courts, but I can almost bet my paycheck that if Columbia doesn't have a DA that handles traffic court neither does Charleston. You can contact the "DA" office, you will more than likely be directed to speak with the officer who wrote the ticket.

If his trailer did'nt clip that ladys jeep then doubt he would have even received a ticket. You're right, guilty till proven innocent. You've been in the trucking biz long enough, most the time it's that way, truckers are guilty.

EVERY ticket or charge challenged or a plea of Innocent for a hearing is handled by the DA or ADA or they are called prosecutor no-ware do the cops act as a prosecutor or attorney in court !! No i am not a attorney or cop i am a truck driver and i doubt you are a cop or in Afghanistan ..

So police officers can determine "fault" in a crash just by writing a ticket? Guess we can just fire those civil judges now. :)

    Best regards

No fault can be determined based upon evidence at the scene, driver testimony, and a little investigation. I see that this thread has devolved into an attack on my credibility from some posters. It is not my job to convince anybody on the internet and none of which I have ever met as to my qualifications. I responded and answered the question. I'll allow the other supposed "experts" interject their opinions. Yes wideglide that's right because you have so much knowledge of how things apply to each and every state as it pertains to laws and the way the judicial system works in each of these wonderful 50 states we have. Continue to show your ignorance.

Exactly - especially considering he told the cop afterwards that he still had to turn down that street, the cop said just try not to hit anyone, then watched him make the turn the exact same way.

As my intent stated.. I just dont know.. now I do. I give credit where its due. Stewey was correct.

    Hopefully this will help:

[h=5]The City Prosecutor's Office[/h]The City Prosecutor's Office ensures the rights and safety of the public are protected by fairly and vigorously prosecuting violations of City ordinances and statutes. The Prosecutor's Office prosecutes criminal cases in the Municipal Court, represents the City with appeals in the Circuit Court, represents the City in forfeiture actions, and serves as a member of the City's Code Enforcement Board.

As long as it takes to get it completed...

You must like to just give up your rights to everything.

Including a trial of your peers......

It's not only a traffic ticket, it's also a criminal record.

    http://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t56c005.php

And if he HAD to creep left to make a SAFE turn, then he did so within the confines of the law.

Let a jury decide that. Not a cop on the street.

It took me less than 5 minutes to find those SC Statutes based on the first two posts by the OP.
