Thanks for your reply. I took pics of my trailer and the damage to the pick up truck. No major damage. Just the behind left time tail light and small scratch from side sweet. The guy said no one injured but i know it can change with a lawyer

Hello Everybody.
So last night on 12/31/2014 around 3Am i got in a small crash due to bad weather here in Texas. I was on I-20 East Bound. The weather was freezing cold and some ice on the ground. As i was driving, I was slowing down due to a stopped traffic ahead of me. I was at a slow speed somewhere 30mph. I gently applied the brakes and all of a sudden the truck started to fish tail. I was on the Left Lane since the right lane was trying to merge to the left lane due to some emergency stop on the right lane. Anyway I thought i was going to Jacknife so i let go of the brakes and it straightened up. However, the trailer had already slid to the right lane while the tractor was on the left lane. After i finally came to a stop, a gentleman came and told me i side swept his pick up truck when my trailer swung to the right side in which he was in. I took out some of his left taillight, and some scratches on the side. No major damage. I agreed that the trailer swung to the right side though i didnt hear it hit his pick up truck. We exchanged insurance and personal infor because the police could not make it due to high traffic backed up.( There were so many big rig and 4 wheeler accidents around that area)
Anyways after the traffic started moving we came to a cop that was directing traffic and told him the situation. He told us to leave if we had already exchanged personal infor. He gave each of us a blue form to fill in the accident report and mail it to an address. No ticket No Nothing.I called my company and i confirmed to them that there were no injuries to the involved parties and that neither of the car had to be towed. they sent an insurance agent to come and interview me on what happened and took some pics of the No damaged trailer.
My Question is
1. Since No one got a ticket from the Cop, do i get some points or accident in my MVR after mailing back the accident report?
2. Will the cops issue a ticket when they get the reports from both of us?
3. Will the company find the accident Preventable though i was at slow speed when the trailer swung
4. Will the company post it on Dac?. No damage to Truck. Small blemish on trailer.

Wont be a ticketed accident. May get reported to DAC (just to trash your record) probably only when you quit). Will clearly be your fault. I mean you hit him ( maybe too fast for conditions maybe not) but at least failure to maintain vehicle in lane. MAY NOT even find its way onto your MVR since no ticket. But company knows about it and will be payed for. You could be going 10 mph hour on ice and still lose control dont sweat it. Just drive like an old man in a Cadillac next time. Let the hot shots go around.
